Mesa & Collbran

Dominating the eastern skyline is the Grand Mesa, the largest flattop mountain in the world…The unique and unmistakable flattop landmark is forty miles in length, stretching from near Palisade in the north to nearby Delta to the south. From the roughly 5,000 foot elevation of the Grand Vally, the Grand Mesa rises quickly along Highway 65 to an elevation of about 11,000 feet.  The stark contrast between the Mesa and the Grand Valley in geography and climate provides for a welcome wooded escape in the hot summer months and high quality winter recreation that folks on the Front Range spend much longer in transit, and traffic, to reach. More than 500 square miles of terrain atop the Mesa provide a home for some and a plethora of outdoor activities for all. -Relocating to the Grand Valley Magazine
